Frequently asked

What people tend to wonder.

How long are sessions?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes. We meet weekly to start. Some clients move to every other week once we have established a steady working rhythm.

Do you offer in-person or telehealth?

Both. I see clients in person in Boca Raton, FL and via secure telehealth anywhere in Florida.

I've had bad therapy experiences before. What's different here?

If you've done therapy and felt like nothing really changed, that history matters here. Talk-based insight has a ceiling — knowing why you do something doesn't always change how your body and nervous system respond. The approaches I work with (EMDR, somatic therapy, AEDP, IFS) are designed for what insight alone can't reach. We'll spend real time on what worked before, what didn't, and where you've gotten stuck, and the work will look different from there.

What if I don't think it's working?

Therapy that isn't landing is information, not a failure to discuss. Around sessions three and six, we step back together and check in: what's shifted, what hasn't, and whether the approach we're using is the right one. If something isn't working, tell me. I'd rather adjust than be right. And if we ultimately aren't the right fit, I'll help point you toward someone who is.

What does the weekly cadence actually look like? Can I take breaks?

Weekly sessions to start — consistency is part of what makes the deeper work land. Once we have a steady rhythm, some clients move to every other week. As for breaks: life happens. If you need to step out for a week or two for travel, illness, or anything else, we plan for it together and the work picks back up where we left off. The goal is the work, not perfect attendance.

Do you take insurance?

Yes — most major insurance is accepted through Genesis Counseling, where I currently practice. The in-network plans are United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, Cigna, Aetna, Florida Blue (BCBS), Curative, and Tricare East. Private pay is also available at the same session rate of $125–$175. For out-of-network plans, a superbill can be provided on request for possible reimbursement.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have a right to receive a written estimate of expected charges for therapy before we begin. I provide this in writing and walk through it with you at intake.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee. Life happens, and I will hear you out on exceptions when something genuinely unavoidable comes up.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy sessions are confidential and protected by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), which keeps your personal and clinical information secure. Everything you discuss in session is held in confidence and is not shared without your written consent. Your therapist adheres to state and federal law, as well as the ethical guidelines set by professional organizations such as the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the American Psychological Association (APA). By law, your therapist must disclose certain information in specific circumstances: (1) if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others; (2) if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult; or (3) if required by court order or legal proceedings.

What does it mean that you are a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI)?

In Florida, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) is a clinician who has completed a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and is now completing the supervised clinical hours required for full independent licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I practice under the qualified supervision of a fully licensed clinician who consults with me regularly about my work. It is a standard, required step in becoming an independently licensed therapist in Florida.

Why don't you list client testimonials?

Professional ethical guidance generally discourages soliciting testimonials from current therapy clients, since it can blur the lines of a therapeutic relationship. Instead, this site describes how I work and what therapy can support. The free consultation is the most accurate way to get a feel for me directly.

If you are in crisis

Therapy is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about hurting yourself or someone else, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. You can also go to your nearest emergency room.
